Club News Clark surprised by Steffans Player of the Month recognition
While he was happy to have a new TW Steel watch around his wrist, Calum Clark certainly wasn’t expecting to be named Steffans Player of the Month for March and deflected much of the acclaim onto the team’s efforts during the Six Nations period.
The flanker won over 50 percent of the vote from Saints supporters but was more pleased with maintaining a 100% Aviva Premiership record with the internationals away.
“It’s always a surprise to get these sorts of things,” Clark told the Saints podcast. “I’m very thankful though and it’s testament to how the team has played and performed over the season. It’s good to have been a part of that.
“The month was more about the team though I think. It was a big focus of ours to play well while the internationals were away and we maintained our run at the start of March in the league. That’s what I think I’m most proud of.”
Clark was speaking at the presentation of his Steffans Player of the Month award, where performance interns Dan Taylor and Ben Rhodes also received a bottle of champagne as the TW Steel Clubmen of the Month.
