Rugby News SAINTS 18 QUINS 10 Kahn praises others for man of the match performance

Kahn Fotuali'i may have taken home the man of the match bubbly after his performance in the Amlin Challenge Cup semi-final win over Harlequins, but the Samoan was keen to share the praise around.

Fotuali'i's form was as sparkling as the contents of the bottle he took home. In the first half he set up the Saints' first try with a pin-point left-footed chip to the corner that Tom Collins dotted down.

Then soon after the break his opportunism shone as he pounced on a bouncing ball to sprint home for his second try in as many weeks and take the team three scores clear in the process.

The scrum-half was at the heart of the Saints' effort as they reached their second final of the season, but he was nevertheless quick to credit those around him in the team.

"It's down to the hard work that the forwards have done for me," he told SaintsTV. "They get that go-forward ball which makes my job a whole lot easier, so credit to them and to Stephen Myler, who played an awesome game tonight."

Harlequins had come to Franklin's Gardens as one of the form teams in the Aviva Premiership, having won four matches on the bounce - including away at Sale and Stade Francais - and earning plenty of praise from the pundits in the process.

However despite dominating possession and territory in the second half the visitors failed to find a way through a resolute green and gold line, Nick Easter's close-range try aside.

"We knew it was going to be tough," Fotuali'i added. "We just needed a win, and tonight was pretty good at the start and the end. The middle wasn't so good and we're still looking for an 80-minute performance, but we're in the Amlin Challenge Cup final, our second final of the year, and it's pretty exciting."

There is one more chance to see the Saints on home turf in the 2013/14 regular season, with London Wasps the visitors on Saturday, May 10th. Tickets are available now by CLICKING HERE and following the straightforward instructions!
