Club News Entries open for 2014 Summer Touch League
The Saints Summer Touch League is back for a seventh year this summer, and entries are now being accepted for one of the biggest Touch Rugby tournaments in the area.
This year’s Touch League is being hosted by BBOB RFC in central Northampton, with sponsorship coming from Unit 22 Crossfit Northampton.
As in previous years, the Touch League will start with a seeding week of short games on Monday, June 23rd, with the tournament’s leagues continuing every Monday night until the final group games and finals on Monday, July 28th.
Touch Rugby is a great way to keep fit during the summer, and is one of the fastest growing versions of the game. Played by mixed teams of men and women aged 16 and over, Touch Rugby emphasises running, agility and ball handling skills.
Games are played on a pitch half the size of a normal rugby field, with teams of six on the pitch at any one time. Squad sizes can be unlimited, with rolling substitutions throughout the games.
All games in the Saints Touch League take place between 6:30 and 9pm, and the BBOB RFC bar is open throughout the evening!
It is the perfect opportunity for club teams to stay sharp during the off-season, for companies to take part in some group bonding away from the office, or groups of friends to try their hands at a new sport!
Entry costs for the six-week tournament are £150 per team, with a non-refundable £75 deposit to guarantee your team’s place due before May 24th.
All you need to do to enter and get started is email Matt Goode in the Saints’ community team – firstname.lastname@example.org – with your team’s name, the main contact name(s), and email and telephone numbers.
