Community News Triple the Saints representation at Twickenham!

As well as the main event against Saracens, there will be a further pair of sides representing the Saints at Saturday’s Aviva Premiership final – Old Scouts and Olney joining the Parade of Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup champions at half-time.

The Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup is a nationwide tournament for under-11 and under-12 teams and is run in conjunction with all 12 Premiership Rugby clubs.

After the continued success of the first five seasons, in which over 40,000 aspiring young players took part in festivals all over the country, each Premiership Rugby club hosted Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup festivals this season.

The stars of tomorrow got to rub shoulders with professional players at the festivals and the lucky winners will be having a team photo with Rugby World Cup winner Lewis Moody before taking part in the Parade of Champions in front of over 80,000 at Twickenham.

Olney head for HQ as the Saints’ Under-12 champions, while Old Scouts claimed the Under-11 title back in October and their coach Matt Allen – Heineken Cup winner with the Saints in 2000 – is eagerly anticipating the experience.

"It wasn't until after winning that they found out about representing the Saints in the parade, which was great because they didn't have the pressure,” Allen said. “It made it all the more special.

“All the boys are absolutely made-up. They are really excited and looking forward to it – like the coaches and the parents.

"It will be a great day all round but for the boys to be able to do that lap, to see how intense it is when you are actually there – it is very different to being up in the stands.”
