Club News Saints confirm leavers’ list
Following the end of the 2013/14 season, Northampton Saints have today confirmed the list of players who are leaving the club this summer.
No.8 GJ van Velze (Worcester) and Fa’atoina Autagavaia (to France) are the only senior squad members to leave Franklin’s Gardens, with Paul Diggin having announced his retirement from playing to focus on his coaching role with the Saints Academy.
However, Cam Dolan, who arrived under injury dispensation at Christmas, will be staying at the Saints.
The USA international is yet to make his senior debut in the black, green and gold, but the No.8 was involved heavily as the Eagles qualified for the 2015 Rugby World Cup by beating Uruguay and was also named player of the tournament as the Saints won the Bury St Edmunds 7s.
The club can also confirm that Senior Academy players Ryan Glynn (Jersey), Tom Warren (Moseley), Sam Harry, Harry Morley (to Australia) and Harry Betts will move on to new challenges.
Director of rugby Jim Mallinder re-iterated the importance of each and every Saints player in the double winning 2013/14 campaign.
“We have said time and again that success this year has been a squad effort,” Mallinder commented. “That includes not only those players that represent the first team, but the entire squad.
“Whether it is playing for the Wanderers, Academy sides, in training or off the field and around the club, every player has made a contribution this season.
"On behalf of the rest of the coaching team I'd like to thank the players who are leaving for what they've done in their time at the Saints, and wish them the best for the future."
