Rugby News Saints shine against Crusaders
The quartet of Saints shone in England’s win over the Crusaders this morning.
Alex Waller, Lee Dickson and Ben Foden all started the tour match in Christchurch against the Super 15 high flyers.
Waller, making his senior England debut, helped keep the scrum solid and made several eye-catching runs with ball in hand.
Dickson kept the tempo up at half-back, impressing with his kicking game in particular, and Foden showed his poacher’s instinct and fine footwork in snatching an Alex Goode grubber kick out of the hands of Crusaders wing Johny McNicholl to dot down for England’s second try of the night.
Stephen Myler also had a promising evening in his half-hour of second half action, playing flat on the gain line to keep England on the front foot and landing a conversion.
England’s attention now switches to Saturday’s third test against the All Blacks in Hamilton.
Meanwhile the next rugby at Franklin’s Gardens will be on Friday, August 1st with the Northampton leg of the 2014 Premiership Rugby Sevens Series. Teams from the Saints, Harlequins, Saracens and London Wasps will go head-to-head in an evening of quality action, with the winners and runners-up heading on to Finals Day.
