Community News Elite Insurance entrenches support of youth rugby

Elite Insurance has expanded its support of Northampton Saints’ development of youth rugby in the East of England by sponsoring the club’s coaching courses for the next two years.

The Elite Insurance Rugby Academies will give young players aged between six and 17 the opportunity to receive top-class coaching from the Saints’ community team and learn from the club’s professional players.

With locations across the East of England there are ample opportunities for young players to hone their skills and learn to play the Aviva Champions’ way!

Members of staff from the Saints Academy will also attend each course, with the possibility that players that stand out could be invited to attend the club’s Elite Player Development Group or Developing Player Programme sessions and follow in the footsteps of the likes of Jordan Onojaife, a member of England Under-20s’ Junior World Championship finalist squad.

Head of community Sian Haynes says that Elite Insurance’s support will be invaluable.

“We’ve developed an outstanding relationship with Elite Insurance over the past few years and this sponsorship of our coaching courses is a natural development from what we have been doing,” she said. “Thousands of young rugby players attend our courses each season, and Elite Insurance’s sponsorship will give us the wherewithal to expand our programme in the future.”

The sponsorship of the Rugby Academies comes hot on the heels of a record-breaking Elite Insurance Sevens Series, in which Under-13 school and club sevens teams from across the East of England went head-to-head.

And Barbara Bock, Elite Insurance group executive officer, says that the Rugby Academies demonstrate the company’s commitment to develop the sport.

“We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the Saints’ community team over the past few years,” she said. “Sian and her team are dedicated to growing rugby union and developing young players and we are delighted to be expanding our support of their work.

“The Rugby Academies have already shown their value to the Saints, with some outstanding young players being spotted and brought into the club’s youth development system.

“However we are also committed to raising the standard of play across the region, and if the Elite Insurance Rugby Academies can help players become better then we will be happy.”

This summer's Elite Insurance Rugby Academies are being held in locations from Banbury to Ipswich, and many in between! For the full list and to book online head to www.northamptonsaints.co.uk/camps
