Rugby News Packman looking to excite at Gardens 7s
Wing Howard Packman hopes he can get a packed Franklin’s Gardens on its feet when he takes to the field for the Premiership Rugby 7s this Friday evening on home soil.
The Academy flyer has plenty of experience in the shortened format of the game, having started and finished last season at Twickenham with the World Club 7s and England 7s respectively.
Packman is hoping to put some of that know how to good use as the Saints welcome Harlequins, Saracens and Wasps for their 2014/15 curtain-raiser.
“It suits my game I think,” the Junior World Champion said. “There’s a lot of space in 7s and the chance to attack one-on-one. I like to pride myself on being able to beat my defender in that situation and hopefully I can do that on Friday evening.
“It also focuses on some of the basic individual skills in your game though, like passing and tackling. It’s something I enjoy.”
The 19-year-old, who made his senior debut last season, is also relishing the chance to play in front of another big Gardens crowd, with a Saints 7s record of over 10,000 already confirmed.
“It’s unbelievable to get that number for a 7s tournament,” he added. “It’s a young team but a lot of us have already had that kind of experience and it’s something we’ll all enjoy again. Hopefully we can put on a show for the crowd.”
Tickets are still available for the evening, with matches starting at 7:15pm. With no guarantees of tickets being available on the gate, however, don’t miss out – book your now by CLICKING HERE!
