A full planning application was submitted to Northampton Borough Council on October 30th, 2013 (planning application number N/2013/1133).
This planning consent was granted by the Northampton Borough Council planners on January 28th, 2014. With the club also having completed its loan negotiations with Northampton Borough Council and drawn down the £5.5 million funds, the project can now move on to the next phase of detailed planning in preparation of a competitive tender process and an eventual build in the summer of 2015. In January 2015 the Saints appointed Buckingham Group Contracting Limited to build the Barwell Stand. Buckingham Group, which has its head office near Silverstone, has a strong track record of building world class sports facilities, including the Silverstone Wing, the Copper Box (made famous during the London 2012 Olympic Games), stadiumMK and the Amex Stadium in Brighton, both of which will be used during Rugby World Cup 2015.
