Injury may have disrupted Alex Corbisiero’s first season at the Saints, but the Lions prop came roaring back at the business end of the season to help his side to double glory.
Northampton fans eagerly awaited his arrival after a victorious British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia, where he showed the power and strength that he would be bringing to the Saints front row – never more so than when he scored the opening try 77 seconds into the third Test.
The former London Irish player confirmed his move to the Saints just before the Lions tour, but unfortunately a knee injury ruled ‘Corbs’ out for the majority of the season.
But he made his way back to fitness coming on as a replacement in the Aviva Premiership semi-final against Leicester and was part of the starting XV for the final against Saracens at Twickenham as well as the Amlin Challenge Cup triumph a week earlier.
Working his way up from Surrey Schools to England Under-18 and Under-19, Alex has also proved a cornerstone of the England pack.
The loose head’s debut came in the 2011 Six Nations and was followed by appearances at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Corbisiero also started the famous autumn win over the All Blacks in 2012.
