The Saints' Aviva Premiership Rugby dreams were dashed three minutes from time as Nick Evans's conversion sent Harlequins to Twickenham.

The Saints and ASDA both believe that the proposed food store, which would be developed on the existing Car Park D at Franklin's Gardens, will bring many benefits to the local community. There is no ASDA in this area of the town and the food store will bring choice and competition to the communities of St James and Upton, earmarked as the focus of considerable future growth of up to 10 times the existing development. Upton will need the convenient food store the new ASDA would provide.
The development would represent a £40 million investment in this area of Northampton. Up to 400 jobs would be created, plus jobs on the construction of both the food store and the new North Stand. Furthermore the new North Stand would enhance Franklin's Gardens considerably, ensuring that the stadium remains the best dedicated club rugby stadium in Europe and allowing the Saints to maintain its status as one of the pre-eminent clubs in the country.

The ASDA development would be a standalone food store. It is important to recognise the difference with other proposals regarding the Sixfields area of Northampton, particularly regarding concerns about the town centre.
