"I had a chat with Sean Lamont before I came up here and he said that the Premiership is a more physical league, but the games I've watched are very entertaining also," Roberts said. "I'm really looking forward to experiencing it."
As fate would have it, the Saints were also drawn in a Heineken Cup Pool with Roberts' former employers and the 25-year-old doesn't expect to get away lightly on his old stomping ground.
"It's always nice to play against your former club. I'm not looking too far ahead but I'm sure there'll be a lot of banter," he laughed. "It's been fairly quiet in that regard in my three weeks here - Ryan Powell my fellow Welshman takes a lot of the stick! The boys have been very welcoming and I have settled in well."
Roberts was talking in an exclusive 'Meet The New Guys' blog for Saints TV, which can be viewed in full by clicking here.
Next Friday evening will be the first chance for Saints supporters to see Roberts and his fellow summer signings in action for the Saints, as World Cup side Russia come to the Gardens. Season Ticket Holders enjoy free entry, while match tickets cost just £12 in all areas of the ground. Click here to buy yours now!
