Having gone 29-0 down fly half Hooley orchestrated a spirited comeback to bring his side within three points of the lead, creating two tries and kicking three of four conversions. But that try bonus wasn't enough to stop them slipping to a 43-26 defeat as high flying Esher reassumed control after the break.
On Sunday, five from Franklin's Gardens were with Moseley as they continued their Championship campaign with a tough away trip to Cornish Pirates. A try from prop Ethan Waller dragged them back within a score of the lead but Priates did just enough to see out the final 11 minutes for a 17-14 triumph. Scrum-half Ryan Glynn also started, while Tom Warren, Matt Williams and Sam Dickinson were all involved from the bench.
The biggest win of the weekend however was reserved for England as they edged past Italy to take the Six Nations into a head-to-head decider with Wales next weekend. Tom Wood enjoyed another good afternoon in white, pulling out a crucial try-saving tackle in the 18-11 win, while Courtney Lawes and Dylan Hartley were both used replacements at HQ.
