The Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) today announced that Christian Day has been re-elected as RPA Chairman.
The Saints second row, who has been a member of the RPA Players’ Board as a Player Representative and Chairman for four years, will continue the role having been unanimously re-elected.
“I am delighted to be able to continue in my role as RPA Chairman for the next twelve months," Day commented. "At a time that is so exciting to be involved in rugby it is crucial that the players collective voice is heard.
“We have made huge strides as an Association in the last 12 months, securing a stronger standing within the game and increased levels of public awareness. The off field work that the management team, RPA staff and Personal Development Managers do is so important, and makes the task of on field success more easily attainable for the players.
"It is vital that the Association continues to build on these successes and secure a bright future for our members.”
Day will be assisted by new RPA Vice-Chairman Mark Lambert, who replaces former Wasps centre Chris Bell, following his retirement this summer.
Damian Hopley, RPA Group CEO, paid tribute to the ongoing work Day has done.
“Christian has been an outstanding ambassador for the game during his time as RPA Chairman and there is no greater testament to his work than being unanimously re-elected by your peers.
“Mark has been a very influential member of the RPA Players’ Board for a number of years and I have no doubt that, working alongside Christian, they will deliver significant progress for our members in key areas over the forthcoming season.”
