Ludlam: Pre-season friendlies are crucial for preparation

Saints forward Lewis Ludlam said that Rotherham Titans were a tough side to face in the second of two pre-season friendlies to take place at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints found themselves 5-0 down after 20 minutes but came back to score 52 unanswered points to secure a 52-5 victory, with Ludlam scoring a second half try.

“The Titans are not an easy team at all. They are big, physical boys and they play a good structure,” said Ludlam, speaking to SaintsTV after the match.

“As you saw in the first half, we struggled to break them down a little but which was frustrating. I think we played better the second half, we got into our pattern, and I think it paid dividends in the end.”

Ludlam also went on to say how important pre-season friendlies are in terms of preparing for the forthcoming season: “These pre-season friendlies are crucial to the season coming ahead.

“It was awesome (to play again), especially in front of a home crowd and the pitch was looking great. It’s about coming together as a team, trying things and making sure we are all on the same page for the season."
