Foden: “We’ll be on our mettle”

Despite his heroics at the Stoop last weekend, setting up and finishing the last minute match-winning try, Ben Foden knows that the Saints still have plenty to work on.

Foden dotted down in the 82nd minute to win the match and bounce back in the best way possible from the Wasps defeat just a week earlier, but he still wants to give the home fans something to help them get behind the team.

“As important as the win against Harlequins was we need to put that behind us and really focus on this weekend,” He told SaintsTV. “We need to make sure that we take the positives and learn from the negatives of last week - we definitely have things to work on."

Foden says the team can't afford to get ahead of themselves and underestimate a London Irish side who picked up a big win of their own last time out against Worcester.

“I thought we conceded a few easy tries so we’ll look to up the defence and playing at home is a big help. We know there were a few disappointed fans after they way we played against Wasps so hopefully we can right those wrongs and put in a big performance against London Irish.

“We know that London Irish are desperate for points, and they’ll be confident coming here with the win that they got against us before New Years, so we’ll be on our mettle.

“We want to give the fans something to shout about, keep the top four dream alive, really target this game and hopefully we can get the points we need to move forward."

Tickets for the game, which will also act as the official opening of the Barwell Stand, are available online HERE. Save on fees by choosing Print@Home when checking out.
