New Saints signing Louis Picamoles says that he wants to help the Saints be the best and hopes that his new side can bring silverware to Franklin’s Gardens this season.

The France number eight has joined the Saints having played for Toulouse since 2009 and hopes that he can also develop his game whilst at the Gardens.

“I want to progress with team and I want to take pleasure from playing with the other players,” said Picamoles, speaking to Saints TV.

“I want to help the team be the best and I hope we can win trophies.”

Having arrived in Northampton shortly after returning from France’s tour of Argentina, Picamoles says that he has already noticed a real enthusiasm in the town for the rugby club, something he thinks is really important for his team.

“I see a lot of energy around the Saints and I like that because I think it’s important for the players to see lots of fans come to the stadium to support the team.”

Picamoles also went on to give his thoughts on the Saints’ draw for the Champions Cup pool stages with the Saints set to face two French teams, Castres, and Montpellier, one of Picamoles’ former clubs.

“It’s a good pool. It’s a big pool but I think we can do something because I know Castres and Montpellier. Sure, it’s a strong pool but we have a good squad and we hope to impress in the Champions Cup.”
