England captain Dylan Hartley has expressed his delight at England securing a 3-0 series whitewash against Australia on their summer tour Down Under.

Hartley’s side secured a 44-40 victory over the Wallabies in Sydney to make their summer tour even more historic having already completed the series victory following their win in Melbourne the previous weekend.

Speaking to FOX Sports after the match, Hartley said: “I’m obviously very happy with the tour.

“I think we can all agree it wasn’t our perfect game today but we put everything into it, it was our last 80 minutes of the season, and I’m really proud of the guys; the way they’ve conducted themselves the last two weeks.

“Three nil; we made some history so there’s a lot of pride in the team today.”

England remain unbeaten under new head coach Eddie Jones and, looking forward to the next few months, Hartley says that England will enjoy their success before taking some time off. They will then regroup to reassess their aims ahead of the forthcoming autumn internationals.

“I think we’ll enjoy this for now. The boys have got some time off, we’ve got five weeks off now and when we meet up again we will reset our goals, refocus and we’ll go again.”
