Myler’s 10 at 10

With a decade in black, green and gold under his belt, Stephen Myler says there’s nowhere he’d rather be than at Franklin’s Gardens.

This past summer marked 10 years since the fly half’s arrival from rugby league and as a one-club man in the XV-a-side game the records and milestones have racked up.

Despite all of the points – 2,327 of them to be precise – and accolades, the Saints’ man of the match from the Challenge Cup and Premiership triumphs of 2014 says that simply pulling on the shirt has been the biggest honour.

“The achievement I’m most proud of is the amount of games I’ve been able to play for the club,” he said on the SaintsTV Show. “Being a goal kicker, the points come with doing your job properly, but to be part of so many great teams over the years has been a privilege.

“When I first came here there were no thoughts 10 years into the future, but I feel so fortunate to still be here because it’s a great club who’ve treated me so well over the years.

“That’s the best thing about the Saints for me – the club atmosphere. That incorporates a lot of things; it’s the stadium, the fans, it’s the squad and the management team. I come to work every day and know the feeling that I’m going to get and it means the same to everyone here.

“The support we get, especially at home, is second to none and you can’t underestimate how important that is. It’s never wavered, from day one to now, even through the Championship and it’s one of the reasons I am so proud to still be here.”
