Abrasive, physical and as athletic in the lineout as in the loose, Calum has featured heavily since joining the Saints in the summer of 2010, proving equally adept in both the back and second rows.

A Saints season-high 35 appearances for Calum included starts in the Heineken Cup final and Premiership semi-final and he was also the overwhelming winner of the Saints Young Player of the Season for 2010/11

Calum joined the Saints as one of England’s highest-rated young forwards. Still just 22 years of age, he holds the record for the youngest forward to play in the league. Calum is a veteran of two IRB Junior World Championships and captained England to the final in 2009.

His leadership skills have been recognised at the Saints too as he led the side out for the first time in the LV= Cup match at Saracens.

Further reward came from an international level, as Calum was called up by England Saxons, only an untimely injury denying his involvement over the summer.

A summer of recovery allowed the flanker to hit the ground running with the Saints in 2011/12 and while a thumb injury kept him out of action for a period of weeks, his early season form was rewarded with a first senior England call-up ahead of the 2012 Six Nations.

He was back in the international mix up 12 months later too, named in the England EPS by Stuart Lancaster, but a shoulder injury at Glasgow dashed his hopes of a first cap, leaving Calum to focus on a return for the Saints' Premiership run in and the Red Rose's summer tour of Argentina.
