Mark is a lock who has had a massive impact on the Premiership. The 30-year-old joined Newcastle in 2006 from Bay of Plenty, where he had been voted the team’s best forward in the Air New Zealand Cup.

His consistency of performance at Kingston Park was recognised immediately with his winning of both the Players’ and Supporters Club Player of the Year awards for 2007/08.

The second-rower's levels didn't wane upon joining the Saints in the summer of 2010 either. A solid option at the lineout and a true workhorse in the loose, he has featured in almost every matchday squad since his arrival and a tireless 2011/12 was rewarded with a new deal to remain at the club.
