Why couldn’t you just play the game at Franklin’s Gardens?
By taking the game away from Franklin’s Gardens and moving it to a stadium with the capacity of Twickenham we are maximising the amount of money that we can raise for Rob and his family. There is also a significant financial incentive for the Club to host the game – one we could not ignore. This is also a unique opportunity for Saints supporters to experience the brand-new Twickenham East Stand development before anyone else and experience a great day out at the home of English rugby.

When were you approached by the RFU and when was this decided?
The RFU approached Saints to host a home match at Twickenham earlier this summer so they could test their new East Stand development ahead of the 2018 Autumn Internationals. The decision to relocate the game to Twickenham was unanimously approved by the Saints Board in June.

Aren’t Saints at a disadvantage by moving a home game to a neutral venue?
Chris Boyd, the coaching staff and the playing squad are confident Saints supporters will recreate the same special atmosphere at Twickenham Stadium as they do at Franklin’s Gardens for an East-Midlands derby. Everyone at the Club is looking forward to hosting this special game on one of the biggest stages in world rugby to help support Rob Horne.

Is this game a one-off or part of an ongoing agreement with the RFU?
This game is a one-off event and we don’t currently have plans to take any home matches away from Franklin’s Gardens in future.

How is Rob Horne and what is the latest on his condition?

What do you say to some of the Season Ticket Holders who have voiced a preference to play all home games at Franklin’s Gardens?
While we recognise it is the desire of some of our Season Ticket Holders to play all home matches at Franklin’s Gardens, we feel these are exceptional circumstances. The opportunity to move this match to a stadium with over five times the capacity of Franklin’s Gardens in order to raise as much as possible for Rob Horne – and for the Club to secure a significant financial benefit in the process – was one we could not refuse.
