HITZ is Premiership Rugby’s award-winning education and employability programme which works with over 2,000 young people across England every year.

Designed to help 16 to 24-year-olds not in education, Employment or Training, the HITZ programme helps young people to tackle challenges that can lead them astray.

HITZ uses rugby as a platform to support the development of social, employability and vocational skills to help vulnerable individuals.

Using rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship to get young people not in education, training or employment back into education, training, apprenticeships and/or employment, HITZ is delivered nationally by England’s 12 professional rugby clubs and funded by partners Comic Relief, Land Rover, CSL and Wooden Spoon.

The course provides the building blocks for people to help them take control of their future, offering the opportunity to gain relevant sporting qualifications, alongside employability and money management skills.

Participants in the HITZ programme regularly report an increase in resilience, self-confidence and aspiration as a result of their involvement, and over 70% go on to achieve a positive progression into further education, training or employment.

How the course works?

With the help of our enthusiastic staff, we hope that the young people that attend will be able to leave with a new-found confidence and readiness to succeed in education or employment.

The BTEC-based education programme is delivered by our education providers, SCL, an approved BTEC centre. Northampton Saints will deliver the HITZ Learning Academy in partnership with SCL.
