Several Saints get England call

Four Saints will be heading to Brighton next week as part of the 33-man squad that will be beginning its preparations for the 2017 Six Nations.

Teimana Harrison, Dylan Hartley, Courtney Lawes and Tom Wood have all retained their places from the training group which swept the Autumn series earlier in the season.

The quartet have been joined by prop Paul Hill in a wider 45-man England Elite Player Squad, from which England head coach Eddie Jones will choose his Six Nations group later in January.

“This short two-day camp in Brighton allows us to do some of the organisational work we need to do for the Six Nations,” Jones said. “We have France first up, who are one of the most improved sides in Europe. They should have beaten Australia and could have beaten the All Blacks in November, so they’ll come into the Six Nations with a lot of confidence.

“We want to make sure in this Six Nations, right from the word ‘go’, that we’re daring and we have the courage to play our game.”

England host France (February 4th), Italy (February 26th) and Scotland (March 11th), with trips to Wales (February 11th) and Ireland (March 18th), with the latter bringing the 2017 Championship to a close.

Franklin’s Gardens hosts Under-20 world champions England in their own Six Nations on March 11th, when they will face Scotland at 6:15pm. Ticket prices start at just £5 and can be booked by CLICKING HERE and following the straightforward instructions!
