North: We have to eliminate pressure

Travis PerkinsSponsored by Travis Perkins

With the Saints needing a win at the very least from Saturday’s Champions Cup trip to Scarlets, George North says that the side can’t afford to let the pressures of qualification affect their performance.

Despite outscoring Glasgow three tries to nil last Sunday, the 19-15 result still came down to a nervy ending at the Gardens, albeit one that kept the Saints' quarter final hopes alive.

But the Wales wing believes the Parc y Scarlets trip might yet bring their best.

“We just have to go there and play our game,” he told SaintsTV. “When we get on the front foot and play the way we know we can play, then the tries will come. We have to make sure we take away as much of the pressure as we can and just focus on every little part of our game.

“Unfortunately we haven’t been as clinical or as accurate as we would have liked this season, but we’ve still got that opportunity to go through, which is key.

“The only thing we know is that we have to go there and win, and win well too. We have to give ourselves the best possible chance.”
