Seven days until rugby returns!

In just one week’s time 15-a-side rugby will be back at Franklin’s Gardens!

The Singha Premiership Rugby Sevens Series may have got your rugby juices flowing, but the preparations to a big season of Aviva Premiership, European Rugby Champions Cup and Anglo-Welsh Cup rugby takes a big step forward next Saturday afternoon.

Welsh Pro14 outfit the Dragons are the first of three pre-season visitors to Franklin’s Gardens, the others being Nottingham (August 17th) and Ulster (August 25th). Throw in a trip to Glasgow Warriors for good measure and you have plenty of chances for the Saints’ players to get game time under their belts ahead of the London Double Header clash with Saracens on the first weekend of September.

The Dragons have had some significant new players join their ranks, including backs Gavin Henson and Zane Kirchner (from Leinster), exciting young forwards Gerard Ellis (from London Irish) and Liam Belcher (Cardiff Blues), along with former Blue Bulls head coach Hendre Marnitz, who has arrived to mastermind the region’s defence.

The Saints have won four of their six matches played against the Dragons, although the Welsh outfit pipped the East Midlanders 27-25 the last time they met in a pre-season friendly in August 2014, a game played in Ebbw Vale.

For the Saints next Saturday is a great opportunity to get some action after a tough few weeks of pre-season and to re-capture the momentum of the three successive wins which ended the 2016/17 campaign, not least the dramatic comeback win over Stade Francais.

Saturday’s game is included in the 2017/18 Season Ticket package, along with guaranteed entry into every big scheduled game right here at Franklin’s Gardens and loads of other benefits! For prices and booking information head to www.northamptonsaints.co.uk/seasontickets

Supporters can still make the most of a special Three-Match Bundle for the pre-season matches, and if you book before August 8th an adult and a child can watch all three friendlies for just £30! CLICK HERE for more information.

Early Bird tickets remain on general sale for the first two home Aviva Premiership matches, against Leicester (Sat, Sept 9th – CLICK HERE for info) and Bath (Fri, Sept 15th – CLICK HERE for info).
