WANDERERS 39 CAVALIERS 12 Wandies stay unbeaten in 2017

An eleventh bonus point win in 2017 for the Wanderers saw them end the year completely unbeaten as they defeated Worcester Cavaliers at Franklin's Gardens.

With Tom Stephenson, Reece Marshall, Nafi Tuitavake, Mitch Eadie and the skipper for the afternoon Ben Nutley all crossing the whitewash, the home side cemented their place at the top of the Premiership Rugby A League table with another full quota of points.

The Wanderers started strongly, earning a penalty in a great position for James Grayson to put them ahead early on. But the Cavaliers hit back instantly, working their way up the pitch and eventually sending a cross field kick over to Ben Howard to open their account.

But with the Cavaliers going down to 14 as new recruit Anton Bresler made his way to the sin bin, Grayson made the most of the shot at the posts and put the Wanderers back in front.

Things got worse for the Cavaliers as Biyi Alo also made his way into the sin bin and the Wanderers wasted no time capitalising. Stephenson was swiftly over the line in a great attacking move from the home side before Marshall scooted over for a second just moments later.

Worcester put together a good period of possession and looked to have got over through Ted Hill, but the flanker knocked the ball on over the line but the away side  kept the pressure up and Hill got a second go just before the break.

It was all the Wanderers from restart though. Marshall broke within his own half and ran almost all the way into the line before the cross field kick came over for Tuitavake to finish the score.

Tuitavake slipped straight through the Cavaliers' defence just after to set up the bonus point score, Nutley eventually barrelling over for the fourth try.

Relentless the Wanderers scored another, Eadie darting through a gap in the Cavaliers' line to score the home side's fifth under the sticks.

The Cavaliers, to their credit, kept fighting until the end and got close to scoring with the last play of the game but, despite being a man down as Christian Day saw yellow, the home side turned a Cavalier scrum over with the last play to end another game with a win and end 2017 completely unbeaten.

The Wanderers are next in action against Wasps A at Franklin's Gardens on 2 April 2018.
