Horne looking to take home momentum to Irish

Coming into this weekend's trip to London Irish off the back of two impressive home victories, Saints now look to take their home form onto the road as they make the trip to the Madejski Stadium.

One of Saints' newest additions, Rob Horne, said that while the side are pleased with their recent performances, they must now concentrate on taking that form away from home to keep that winning momentum up.

"It was a good response from the first week from the whole squad," Horne commented about last Friday night's clash with Bath and the important win over Leicester Tigers the weekend before. "We're just working hard everyday to improve, to get better and see what we can do.

"It's important to play well at home. We did that but this week we go away and the last time we played away wasn't a great result for us. So that's the challenge for us now, to go away and put those types of performances out there."

Before making his full senior debut for Saints during that victorious East Midlands derby though, the Australian international turned out for the Wanderers up in Sale just days after arriving in England and said that the experience provided him with a brilliant chance to get to know his new teammates.

"I really enjoyed it," the 28-year-old said of his Wanderers debut, "It was my first week here so getting out there and playing a game with the boys was important for me to get to know people properly.

"Obviously we had a fair bus trip up to Manchester and then back on the same day, it was good fun to just be with the boys and get to know each other.

"For me, it was just good to get going. I hadn't played footy in a little while. I'd had the break after Super Rugby and I just enjoyed being out there and playing the game. I think all the guys that are involved in Wanderers games just enjoy getting out there and playing the game for the game's sake."

Following his Wanderers appearance, Horne's first senior run out in a Saints shirt was a memorable one for the experienced centre, coming in an East Midlands derby, and something that Horne says has since become one of his proudest rugby memories.

"What better way to make your debut for the club?

"In a local derby like that and at home as well. It's such an amazing ground here, it was packed and it was a great atmosphere. Obviously getting the win that helped too with the crowd getting behind you. It's definitely one of my proud rugby memories."
