Wales has today announced their 39-man squad for the upcoming Six Nations tournament, naming George North among the backs.
Having already racked up 69 caps for Wales, the 25-year-old British and Irish Lion will be hoping to add to that total over the course of the tournament alongside soon-to-be Saint Dan Biggar.
Naming a larger than normal squad, Wales' head coach Warren Gatland said that having the experience of players like North and Biggar around the camp would give the squad a chance to build over the coming months.
"We have selected a larger squad and it is an opportunity for us to work with a wider group and continue building for the next 18 months," Gatland commented.
"It's important to have a group of players who are used to the environment, know what is expected and are familiar with things and that will really benefit us going forward.
"We have included a couple of players who are carrying injuries. It's useful to have these experienced guys around camp and to have them included and to work with them."
The squad convene at the National Centre of Excellence next Monday.
