Northampton Saints would like to assure supporters that the Club is taking every measure possible to ensure that this weekend’s fixture with Sale Sharks goes ahead as planned.
The Franklin’s Gardens pitch has been covered all week by the groundstaff and local company Sports & Stadia Services, with a hot-air dome keeping the playing surface from being damaged by the below freezing temperatures.
In addition, the Club’s stadium staff have been working overtime to ensure the ground is fit to host a 15,000-strong crowd for the game.
Car Parks A, B, C, and D and the Supporters Village have all been gritted every day this week and will continue to be treated until Saturday, as will the gangways around the ground.
Meanwhile, Northampton Borough Council will continue to grit the roads surrounding Franklin’s Gardens which provide access to the stadium, and the Club has booked a snow plough for Friday and Saturday to clear any obstructed car parks or gangways.

Moreover, the club’s groundstaff have been provided with an extra tractor and trailer to facilitate the snow clearing effort, as well as extra shovels, and extra staff have been recruited to help out at the Gardens on Saturday morning.
The shop and ticket office will be open from 9am as usual on gameday, while the Supporters Village, Stadium and Bars will open at 1pm in time for the 3pm kick-off (please note that unlike most matchdays the Village is not opening early, but at the same time as the rest of the stadium to give staff more time to undertake any necessary work).
So, for all supporters travelling from both Northampton and Sale, please assume it’s business as usual at the Gardens on Saturday – but also check our website and social media channels on the morning of the match for regular updates.
