After joining Saints in the summer of 2017, Francois van Wyk has established himself as a first-team regular at Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton’s front row.
They loosehead prop featured 25 times in Black, Green and Gold in his debut season at the Club, before increasing that number to 31 in Chris Boyd’s first season at the helm and breaking a half-century of Saints appearances in the process.
Van Wyk scored his first points in a Saints shirt with a try double against Bristol Bears in October 2018, before playing in every one of Northampton’s knock-out matches that same season as the side reached the Premiership semi-finals, European Challenge Cup quarter-finals, and lifted the Premiership Rugby Cup.
He is South African-born and before his arrival at Franklin’s Gardens represented hometown club Western Province having come through the academy setup in Cape Town. Also educated at the University of Cape Town, Van Wyk made the switch to Perth in Australia in 2014, and played 12 times for Western Force in Super Rugby.
