Beginning his rugby career at Oaklands College, Karl Garside joined up with Northampton Saints after a trial period with the Club in 2018.
The tighthead prop featured in the RFU's AASE League – playing against the likes of future Saints teammate James Grayson – and represented Hertfordshire and England Counties before making the switch to National One outfit Ampthill and District from Old Albanians in 2017.
Garside made his debut for Northampton while on loan from Ampthill, first donning the Black, Green and Gold shirt against Bristol Bears in the Premiership Rugby Cup in October 2018.
A further three appearances would come for Garside during his loan period, with the prop making his Gallagher Premiership debut less than a month after arriving at the Club. And Garside's solid performances earned him a permanent spot on Saints' books, with the tighthead signing his first professional contract ahead of the 2019/20 season – in which he would feature in Saints colours another three times.
