Fin Smith joined Northampton Saints in October 2022 and his performances across his first 16 appearances, where he scored 144 points, saw him named the Club’s Young Player of the Season for 2022/23.

The fly-half arrived at Saints from Worcester Warriors, where he became their youngest-ever player to start in a PREM match back in March 2021 – aged just 18 years and 313 days.

Smith’s rapid ascent started at Shipston-on-Stour RFC before joining Warwick School and being picked up by Warriors, where he signed on full-time in 2020.

In season two at Northampton Saints, Smith added 27 appearances and a further 260 points, including a penalty, drop goal and a conversion in the 2023/24 Gallagher PREM Final success over Bath at Twickenham.

Personal accolades were plentiful as he was named in the PREM Rugby Team of the 2023/24 season, and he also won the RPA Players’ Player of the Year, as voted for by his fellow players across the league. Smith’s trophy cabinet was further swelled by winning both the Players’ Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards at Saints that year.

Having previously represented England Under-20s, winning a Six Nations Grand Slam in 2021, a senior debut followed in 2024 when he came off the bench against Italy in the Six Nations. Six more replacement appearances would follow before earning a first England start against France in the 2025 Six Nations, and Smith kept the No.10 jersey for the remainder of the tournament, scoring 29 points.

In season three at Saints, Smith reached 50 appearances against Castres in December 2024, as well as pushing past the 500-point mark with the Club in the 2024/25 campaign, which concluded with him following in the footsteps of his granddad, Tom Elliot, and gaining selection for the British & Irish Lions’ 2025 tour to Australia.

Smith enjoyed another superb year in 2025/26, scoring 195 points across 17 appearances that included six tries – more than his previous three seasons combined – with one of those coming in the PREM final triumph against Exeter Chiefs, in which he added three conversions.
