Rory Hutchinson made his Northampton Saints debut back in January 2015 against Leicester Tigers in the Anglo-Welsh Cup, making the versatile back the longest-serving member of the current squad.

His journey in Black, Green and Gold goes back even further than that as a product of Saints’ Academy system, after showing early promise on the pitch with Shelford RFC.

It didn’t take long for the former Felsted School pupil to catch the eye in senior rugby as the try he scored on his PREM debut against Exeter Chiefs in 2016/17 would win the Club’s Try of the Season award.

More eye-catching moments saw him win Saints’ Breakthrough Player of the Year award for the 2018/19 season, while also collecting a nomination for the Land Rover Discovery of the Season award. 

International honours came with Scotland at Under-18s and Under-20s level before Hutchinson earned a first full senior cap from the bench against France in August 2019.

More than two years would pass between his seventh and eighth caps, as his role in Saints’ PREM title win in 2023/24 earned him an international recall when he started against Portugal in November 2024.

The 2024/25 season saw Hutchinson make 26 appearances and break the 50-point barrier for a second time as a Saint, kicking 19 conversions and a penalty alongside two tries – as he showcased his versatility with starts at fullback, fly-half, inside and outside centre.

In the 2025/26 season, he became the 82nd  player to reach 200 appearances for the Club against Gloucester, and marked the occasion with a try, before going on to help the men in Black, Green and Gold win a second PREM title in three seasons.
