Mallinder praises Movember commitment

As of December 1st, the 194 members of the Front Mo Union had received over £26,000-worth of donations, ranking the team third in the overall UK table and far and away the most successful within the Aviva Premiership.

Leading the way has been 12-year-old William Heath, whose daily costumes of famous moustached celebrities, entertainers and characters has received widespread coverage in the national press and on social media, helping him pull in over £5,000 on his own!

And Mallinder says that Movember, which has seen Saints players, coaches, staff, administrators and supporters alike sport a variety of facial hair, reflects the positive ethos at Franklin’s Gardens.

“It’s been fantastic,” he said. “The Saints is not just about 15 players on the weekend; we are a club and once you decide you’re going to do something you get behind it.

“There have been some ridiculous looking people out there, and there will be lots of people who will have been looking forward to shaving their moustache off, but what it’s been doing has been fantastic, raising money and awareness for a really good cause.

“We’re delighted to have got behind it for a second year, earned lots of money, and it’s been a good effort from everyone involved at the club.”

Donations are still being accepted by the Front Mo Union. Just head to uk.movember.com and search for ‘Front Mo Union’, and while on the Movember site also take some time to see what the funds will support, including research into prostate and testicular cancers, and mental health issues.

The best of the Front Mo Union’s pictures can be seen on the Saints’ official Facebook page.
