Northampton Saints will be providing free Women’s Touch Rugby sessions from 4 November 2025 to March 2026, funded by a new grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Following the conclusion of the biggest Women’s Rugby World Cup in history, in which 17 Loughborough Lightning players were involved, a brand-new grant from UKSPF will help fund five months of Women’s Touch Tugby sessions at cinch Stadium – delivered by Northampton Saints’ Community Coaches.

Sessions will take place inside the High Performance Centre at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens every term-time Tuesday from 7.00pm until 8.30pm.

All abilities are welcome to come along; sessions will be non-contact and inclusive for all women aged 18 and over.

Councillor James Petter (Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Local Economy, Culture and Leisure at West Northamptonshire Council) said: “We are delighted to support this fantastic initiative, which offers free weekly Touch Rugby sessions for women of all ages and backgrounds.

“Following the Women’s Rugby World Cup, we have been encouraged to see more women and girls getting involved in sport, and this programme is a brilliant way to continue that legacy.”

“Whether participants are experienced players, completely new to the game, or simply inspired by family members, these sessions provide a welcoming opportunity to get active, build confidence, and enjoy the benefits of rugby together.”

The sessions will be run by the experienced coaches in Northampton Saints’ Community department, led by Women and Girls Rugby Development Officer, Tabitha Banks.

She said: “We’re incredibly thankful for the support of this initiative, to be able to encourage more women to get into rugby and be physically active.

“These sessions are fun and accessible for all abilities, and we’re incredibly thankful for the support from UKSPF.”
