Superb Saints down Clermont: How social media reacted

Travis PerkinsSponsored by Travis Perkins

Saints remain unbeaten in 2018 after a sensational victory over ASM Clermont Auvergne on home soil on Saturday evening.

The hosts had to come from behind for the second week running, overcoming a 15-10 half-time deficit to storm to a 34-21 triumph after 80 minutes – their first-ever win over the Top 14 champions.

Teimana Harrison, Nafi Tuitavake, Ben Foden, Ken Pisi and Cobus Reinach all crossed the whitewash to secure a bonus point for the Saints and send those inside Franklin's Gardens wild.

And social media soon exploded with players and fans alike across Northampton expressing their delight – here are a few of our twitter highlights from the weekend.

Tom Stephenson raised his bat after notching up 50 appearances in the Black, Green and Gold!

And the rest of the Saints players took to social media in force to celebrate an historic win for the Club…

Hell of a game yesterday! The Gardens was on 🔥🔥🔥 #COYS

Our Club photographers had plenty of happy Saints players to snap…

It was another winning week up the road for the Cobblers meaning fans of both the round and egg-shaped ball were bouncing…

Saints supporters both in and outside Franklin’s Gardens were absolutely buzzing to remain unbeaten in 2018. Here are some of our favourite responses…

And finally, extremely gracious in defeat, the Clermont fans certainly made a few friends before, during, and after the match. A credit to the #RugbyFamily
