Tom Litchfield signed his first full-time contract with Saints during the summer of 2020, following a stellar youth career which saw him impress in Northampton’s Academy set-up, as well as at Samuel Whitbread Academy and Bedford Blues.

He showcased his potential in the 2019 PREM Rugby Sevens tournament and gained valuable experience during his first season of professional rugby (2020/21) through a dual registration with Bedford Blues in the Champ. He then made his senior Saints debut off the bench on the final day of that campaign against Bath, stepping into the PREM for the first time.

The following seasons saw Litchfield grow into a regular first-team figure. He notched his first try in November 2021 in the PREM Rugby Cup against London Irish and gradually built consistency – making nine appearances in 2021/22, then 11 in both 2022/23 and 2023/24, and showing his versatility by fulfilling roles both in midfield and on the wing.

A significant milestone arrived in January 2025 when Litchfield made his 50th senior appearance in a European Champions Cup tie at Stade Français, with the 2024/25 campaign seeing him become a more regular starter.

Litchfield’s 2025/26 turned out to be even better as he made 25 appearances, with his nine tries including a hat-trick in the PREM semi-final against Leicester Tigers as Saints went on to win the title. His superb performances led to him being named the Saints Players’ Player of the Season.

On the international stage, Litchfield impressed in the England Under‑20s jersey, competing in the 2021 and 2022 Six Nations and Summer Series.
