The first two good causes that will benefit from the stadiummk Charities Day have been announced by the Saints.

The Saints’ management is using the big Aviva Premiership clash with Saracens on Sunday, April 16th to raise funds and awareness for 15 charities, who will each have their logo on one of the starting 15’s shirts, have a stand on the concourse at stadiummk and receive 20 percent of the proceeds of all tickets that they sell for the match.

Charities were nominated by Saints supporters, players and staff, with nearly 800 nominations received in all by the club, and the 15 that have been selected represent a broad cross-section of causes.

The first two good causes are:

CYNTHIA SPENCER HOSPICE Cynthia Spencer Hospice provides specialist palliative care services for South Northamptonshire. Cynthia Spencer Hospice provides inpatient care, outpatient services, Hospice@Home, lymphoedema service and palliative care clinical nurse specialist service. They have two specialist Consultants in palliative medicine, a team of doctors and specialist nurses working within the Hospice and the community as well as in Northampton General Hospital and Danetre Hospital in Daventry. We offer specialist physical, psychological, social and spiritual care to those with life limiting illnesses. Our focus is on quality of life and respecting the uniqueness of each person.

ALFIE BEAR’S JOURNEY Alfie Bear’s Journey raises funds and awareness about Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a high-grade brain tumour which affects fewer than 40 children in the UK every year. DIPG is both inoperable and currently incurable, something which Alfie Bear’s Journey hopes to change through its support of paediatric brain tumour research.
