Hartley returns for Saints’ final preseason clash

Club captain Dylan Hartley returns to Northampton Saints’ squad to take part in his first preseason game this Friday, with director of rugby Chris Boyd today naming his 28-man squad to take on Glasgow Warriors.

With two away victories over Welsh sides Dragons and Ospreys already under their belts, Boyd’s charges welcome the Scottish PRO14 outfit to Franklin’s Gardens this Friday (kick-off 7.30pm) to round off their preseason preparations.

Hartley will pull on the Black, Green and Gold and enter the fray from the bench in the second half of the match – with front-row partner Alex Waller, who this week was named the Club’s co-captain, leading out the side from the start.

Having notched five tries already in two matches this preseason, hooker James Fish joins Waller and Ben Franks in the front row, while Saints’ pack will not be short of power and height as towering locks David Ribbans and Courtney Lawes line-up in the engine room.

Saints boast a back row full of international talent as James Haskell, Heinrich Brüssow and Teimana Harrison all start together, with Samoa’s Ahsee Tuala lining up at fullback.

Half-backs Cobus Reinach and Dan Biggar will start together for the second time this preseason campaign, while Piers Francis and Rory Hutchinson link up again in the centres with Ken Pisi and Tom Collins looking to seize their opportunity to impress on the wings.

And alongside Hartley on Saints’ impressive bench, there’s also room for the likes of Mikey Haywood, Api Ratuniyarawa, Jamie Gibson, and James Grayson.
