Northampton Saints flanker Jamie Gibson is in the running for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Season award, after being nominated ahead of this Wednesday's awards ceremony.

Exeter Chiefs’ Don Armand, Dany Cipriani of Wasps, Newcastle Falcon Vereniki Goneva and Sale Sharks scrum-half Faf De Klerk also make it onto the shortlist.

But completing the quintet is Saints’ Gibson – one of only four players to feature in all 22 Rounds of Aviva Premiership Rugby this term – who finished in the top five players in the league for tackles made, lineouts won, and turnovers this season.

  • Danny Cipriani (Wasps)
