Northampton Saints Under-18s’ schedule for the remaining 2023/24 Premiership Rugby Academy League season has been confirmed – with the side’s matches in 2024 including a Double Header clash with Loughborough Lightning at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens in early February.
Head coach Charlie Reed – who joined Saints’ Academy coaching team earlier this season – leads the boys in Black, Green and Gold as they round out their league campaign with trips to Sale Sharks (7 January), Midlands West (13 January) and Midlands Central (20 January) before welcoming Newcastle Falcons to Northampton on Saturday 10 February.
Saints’ youngsters will follow on from Loughborough Lightning that day, taking on Falcons after Lightning’s Allianz Premiership Women’s Rugby clash against Leicester Tigers Women (kick-off: 2pm), with Saints kicking off at the later time of 4.30pm on the hallowed Gardens turf.
Saints Under-18s’ campaign began back in August, claiming back-to-back victories over Leicester Tigers (75-7) and Yorkshire Rugby (40-21) to propel themselves up to the top of the Northern Conference table with a full quota of ten league points from the two clashes.
Northampton have reached the past two Academy League Finals Days, and though they ultimately fell at the final hurdle to Bristol Bears in 2022 and London Irish in 2023, Reed’s side will be looking to make it to their third consecutive Final this term – with Finals Day set to take place at Kingsholm Stadium on Sunday 18 February.
