PREM Rugby’s all-time leading tryscorer, Chris Ashton, is returning to Northampton Saints this summer by making his Legends Weekend residential camp coaching debut at Stowe School.
Following his switch from rugby league, Ashton launched his career in union with the men in Black, Green and Gold, scoring on his debut in 2007 against London Welsh and would end the National Division One title-winning season with 39 tries in 25 appearances.
He added 51 more tries in his next 56 Saints outings, and his exploits in 2009/10 saw Ashton win the league’s Player of the Season accolade as well as lift the LV= Cup. The Wigan-born star also gained a 2008/09 European Challenge Cup winners’ medal as well as being a Heineken Cup runner up in 2010/11.
Aged 22 and while with Saints, Ashton made his England debut against France in the 2010 Six Nations and, later that year, scored one of English rugby’s most iconic tries from long distance against Australia – finished with his iconic ‘Ash Splash’ diving celebration.
Ashton would finish his international career with 20 tries in 44 tests, and following a move to Saracens in 2012, would add two PREM Rugby titles and two European Rugby Champions Cups to his glittering rugby CV.
By the time he hung up his boots at the end of the 2022/23 season at the age of 36, Ashton had secured his place at the top of the all-time tryscorers list in both the Champions Cup (41) and PREM (101).

Ashton, alongside fellow guest coaches Bruce Reihana, Lee Dickson and Dylan Hartley, is heading to Stowe School on Saturday 1 August and Sunday 2 August 2026 to share his experience during an exclusive weekend-long rugby camp – which uses professional technical coaching and hands-on workshops to impart wisdom onto the next generation of players alongside Saints’ Community coaches.
