While the French side can pick only eight forwards, they’ve 19 internationals to choose from and the Saints prop knows it will be a massive, physical battle whoever plays for the hosts.
“I’m sure it will be a hell of a tussle but it’s one we’re massively looking forward to it,” he told SaintsTV. “I personally can’t wait to be out there in that environment – we know it’s a huge challenge as a team.
“They’re a huge, formidable pack with a number of talented internationals. They’ll look to get on top of us up front so it’s up to us to go out there and impose ourselves on Clermont.
“We’ve trained hard and we’re focused though. The best thing we can do is use the occasion to motivate and bring the best out of ourselves this weekend.”
The Saints’ Champions Cup quarter final at Stade Marcel Michelin kicks off at 5:45pm BST and is being shown live on Sky Sports 2. You can also follow at www.saintslive.co.uk
