Lancaster has selected 50 players, with Luther Burrell, Calum Clark, Alex Corbisiero, Lee Dickson, Dylan Hartley, Courtney Lawes, Stephen Myler and Tom Wood heading to Pennyhill Park on June 22nd to begin preparing for the Rugby World Cup.
“We are excited to name this extended squad which allows us to look at a wide group of players who have been pushing hard for selection in training with us or playing well for their clubs this season,” Lancaster commented.
“It’s great to be able to include Alex Corbisiero, Joe Launchbury, Ben Morgan, Ed Slater and David Wilson, who missed the Six Nations because of injury and are close to returning to play or have recently begun playing again.”
England finish the current season against the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday, May 31st. Then later in the summer they will have warm-up matches against France in both London and Paris, as well as Ireland at Twickenham, before facing Fiji, Wales, Australia and Uruguay in the Rugby World Cup itself.
The squad for the Barbarians game will be announced once the Aviva Premiership finalists have been confirmed.
