Guide to the Final: Northampton Saints vs Union Bordeaux Bègles

Northampton Saints meet Union Bordeaux Bègles this Saturday (24 May, kick-off: 2.45pm) in the Investec Champions Cup Final at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

The men in Black, Green and Gold topped their Pool following the competition’s opening rounds with victories over Castres Olympique, Munster, and Vodacom Bulls, before progressing into this weekend’s showdown courtesy of thrilling wins over ASM Clermont Auvergne, Castres Olympique and Leinster.

Meanwhile Bordeaux also led the way in their Pool, overcoming Ulster, Munster and Stade Toulousain on their way to the Cardiff showpiece.

Car Parking in Northampton

  • + Where can I park at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens?

    • Parking for all vehicles at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday is in Car Park D (Edgar Mobbs Way, Northampton, NN5 5JT).
    • Supporters will only be allowed access to this Car Park if they are booked onto one of the official Club coaches. You will need to show your Coach Parking ticket to a member of staff on the gates to enter Car Park D. 
    • Please note; all vehicles parking in Car Park D must be below 2.2m in height.
    • As always, any cars left in Car Park D for the day, are done so at your own risk.
  • + How much is it to park in Car Parks?

    • Parking in Car Park D is free for all supporters with a valid coach ticket for one of the Club’s official coaches.
  • + What time do Car Parks open?

    • Car Park D opens at 7.30am on Saturday.
  • + Can I pre-book parking?

    • No, parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. But there will be ample car parking for all supporters who are travelling on the Club’s official coaches.
  • + What time will Car Parks close on Saturday night?

    • Due to the distance between Northampton and Cardiff, Car Park D will remain open throughout Saturday night and Sunday during the day – but please note; due to the RunThrough Northampton race on Sunday 25 May, Edgar Mobbs Way will be closed from 9am to 11am.
    • Car Parks will close to supporters at 8pm on Sunday.
    • There will be no access to any vehicles left in the Club’s Car Parks until they are re-opened at 8am on Tuesday morning.
  • + What time will coaches be arriving back in Northampton?

    • We hope to have all coaches back in Northampton by 10pm latest.
  • + Are there toilets I can use before departing for Cardiff on the coach?

    • Yes, the toilets at the South West corner of cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens – accessible via the Supporter Village – will be open for use in the morning.

Coach Travel

  • + What time do coaches leave for Cardiff?

    • Coaches will be leaving from Car Park B (at the rear of the stadium, adjacent to the training pitches) – with the first coach set to leave at approximately 8.30am.
    • Please aim to arrive by 9am at the latest, with the final coach expected to depart at approximately 9.30am.
    • Coaches will not depart until every seat is full, so please assist the stewards and fill up the coaches to ensure you get away on time.
  • + I am getting dropped off for my coach rather than parking – where should I go?

    • All drop-offs for coach travel will be in Car Park D (Edgar Mobbs Way, Northampton, NN5 5JT). Do not use any of the other car parks as a drop-off point.
  • + Where will the coaches be leaving from?

    • Car Park B at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens.
    • Please note this area is only accessible on foot. Do not use Car Park B as a drop-off point. 
  • + Where do I go for accessible coaches?

    • If you require an accessible coach, please speak to a steward as soon as you arrive in Car Park B and they will ensure you are directed onto the correct vehicle.
  • + When should I arrive for my coach?

    • We advise you to arrive as early as possible, but certainly no later than 9am.
  • + Can I bring food and drink with me on the coach?

    • Yes, but please dispose of all your rubbish responsibly.
  • + Are there toilets on the coach?

    • We cannot guarantee that your coach has a toilet.
    • However, all coaches will have one planned stop on the way down to Cardiff – unless there are severe road delays which could cause a late arrival for the match, in which case this cannot be guaranteed.
    • Coaches will stop off on the way back if travellers require.
  • + What do I need with me for the coach trip?

    • Please bring your Coach Ticket with you on Saturday, this will be attached to your booking confirmation email. 
    • You can display this via a smartphone or print the ticket out to show on Saturday.
  • + Can I leave my belongings on the coach during the game?

    • Yes, but you do so at your own risk, and you need to ensure you return on the same coach as you travelled down on.
  • + Where do the coaches park in Cardiff?

    • The coaches are parking at the Cardiff Civic Centre Car Park (CF10 3ND), which is a 15-minute walk from the Principality Stadium.
    • This is where the coaches will depart from to return to Northampton as well. 
    • Please remember your coach number for your return journey, you will be returning on the same coach.
  • + What time do the coaches leave for the return journey?

    • The coaches will leave Cardiff 45 minutes after the post-match trophy presentation.
    • If the match goes to extra time, this will be accounted for and coaches will still depart 45 minutes after the post-match trophy presentation.
    • Please remember your coach number from the journey down, you will be returning on the same coach.
  • + Can I bring a babe-in-arms with me on the coach?

    • Yes, but please note that any children travelling on the coaches must have a ticket if they plan to use a seat. 
    • Children under the age of 3, that are sat on parents/carers laps, do not require a ticket. 
    • You can bring car seats with you but we cannot guarantee that they will fit onto the seats of the coach to be secured.
  • + Where will coaches be returning to?

    • Coaches will be returning to the same point they departed from in Car Park B at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens.
  • + What if I am late for my coach?

    • Unfortunately, coaches will not wait for latecomers.
  • + Will the coaches leave later if the game goes to extra time?

    • Yes, the coaches will still leave 45 minutes after the trophy presentation even if there is extra time.
  • + How long will the journey from Northampton to Cardiff take?

    • While it is impossible to predict traffic, the journey should take between three and four hours to get to Cardiff.

Ticket Office, Saints Store, and Stadium Bars

  • + Will the Ticket Office, Saints Store, and Stadium Bars be open on Saturday?

    • Due to the early departing time on Saturday morning and late return to Northampton, please note that the Ticket Office, Saints Store and all bars at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens will be CLOSED all day on Saturday.
  • + When can I collect Final merchandise from the Saints Store?

    • The Store at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens will be open from 12pm to 7pm on Thursday 22 May and Friday 23 May.
    • Please note; the Saints Store will be closed on Saturday 24 May – you will not be able to collect any orders on the day of the Final.
    • All online pre-orders of Investec Champions Cup Final merchandise placed before midnight on Tuesday 20th May will be dispatched on Thursday 22 May on a next-day shipping service.
    • Any click-and-collect orders placed online before midnight on Thursday 22 May will be available to collect in Store on Friday 23 May.

Smoking

  • + Is smoking permitted on the coaches?

    • No, all of the Club’s official coaches are strictly non-smoking.
  • + Is smoking permitted at the Principality Stadium?

    • Smoking is not permitted in the main bowl. Smoking is permitted outside the stadium but within the main gates.

Digital Ticketing

  • + Key Information

    • Download Ticket: Please ensure you have opened your Principality Stadium app before arriving as an internet connection is required to download your ticket.
    • Do Not Screenshot: Please do not attempt to screen shot any of your tickets as this is not permitted and may result in the invalidation of tickets.
    • Fully Charged: Make sure your smartphone is fully charged before leaving for the stadium.
    • Ticket Transfer: Please transfer tickets to your friends before you arrive at the stadium. Public wifi is not available at Principality Stadium. Do not screenshot, you can use the ‘transfer’ button in the App.
    • For ticketing support in advance of matchday please contact [email protected]. On matchday, members of EPCR’s Ticketing Team will be available at each entry gate for any ticket related questions you may have. They are there to help deliver a seamless admission into Principality Stadium and will be located in white booths just before the turnstiles.

    Please note; Principality Stadium has a strict bag policy, limiting bags to small sizes – no larger than 35cm x 40cm x 19cm. Small handbags are permitted, but larger bags are not allowed. There are no bag storage facilities available at the stadium, so visitors should plan accordingly.

Opening Times

  • + What times does the Fan Village open/close?

    • The Champions Rugby Village (Fan Zone) at Cardiff Arms Park will be open from 10am to 2.45pm and from 5pm to 7pm on Saturday.
  • + What time does the Principality Stadium open?

    • The Principality Stadium gates will open from 12.45pm on Saturday – two hours before kick-off.

Fan Zone

  • + What is the Champions Rugby Village?

    • As part of the celebration for EPCR Finals Weekend, the Champions Rugby Village fan zone will be based at Cardiff Arms Park (CF10 1JA) – home to Cardiff Rugby – which is on the site site as the Principalty Stadium.
    • Entry to the Champions Rugby Village is FREE.
    • An exciting programme of activities, live music, animations as well as food and beverage options will be available.
    • The Champions Rugby Village will be open on Saturday 24 May from 10am to 2.45pm, and 5pm to 7pm.

    • Flags will be provided for anyone travelling on Club‘s coaches down to Cardiff.
    • Other supporters can look out for Saints staff handing out flags outside the turnstiles at the Principality Stadium – but if you already own a Black, Green and Gold flag, please bring it along!

    • The Postmaster Suite at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff opens at 11.45am and closes at 8pm.
