Northampton Saints has today announced that 2XU has become the club’s official compression supplier.
2XU is the world’s leading manufacturer of compression garments. Working in a wide range of sports, including running, swimming, snow-sports, basketball, football and general fitness, as well as rugby union, 2XU puts the athlete first with a product range to enhance muscle use and improve preparation and rehabilitation before and after training and matches.
Founded in Australia in 2005, 2XU’s compression technology has been endorsed by some of the world’s leading sports institutions, including the Australian Institute of Sport, Great Britain Hockey, the Canadian Sports Institute, Deutsche Triathlon Union, Ironman and the US Ski and Snowboard Association.
In addition to providing compression garments to the Saints squad, the 2XU range will also be available in the Saints Shop at Franklin’s Gardens for the more relaxed sportsperson who wants to improve their own levels of performance and recovery.
“Rugby is not just about what happens on a match day,” said Saints chief executive Allan Robson. “It is essential that the players have everything they need to be able to rehabilitate from matches and prepare for the next weekend to ensure that they can play at the highest possible standard.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with 2XU as our official compression supplier. They are the world leaders in the area and have a product range which is at the cutting edge of sports science.
“This partnership is not just about the elite end of the sporting spectrum, however, and with 2XU’s range being equally accessible and suitable for the more casual sportsperson we are also very happy to be stocking the range in the Saints Shop, too.”
Mike Martin, 2XU UK sales and marketing manager added: “We are very happy to form a relationship with Northampton Saints. They are a forward thinking club and appreciate that to be at the top of their game they need to look at every aspect of their training.
“Compression not only improves performance and reduces the risk of injury but it also enables the players to recover faster so they are able to train hard again the next day. We look forward to working closely with the squad and listening to their feedback to help us improve our products even further.”
