Stephen Myler

Stephen Myler is Northampton Saints’ second-highest points scorer of all time and one of the most reliable goal-kickers ever to represent the Club.

Originally a rugby league player with Widnes and Salford, Myler switched codes and joined Saints in 2006. His arrival proved transformational for both player and the Club.

He became a central figure in Northampton’s unbeaten Championship-winning campaign of 2007/08 and remained a cornerstone of the side throughout the next decade. Calm under pressure and exceptionally accurate from the tee, Myler acquired a reputation for delivering in rugby’s biggest moments.

His first major trophy came in the 2009 European Challenge Cup final, where he kicked all 15 points in a victory over Bourgoin. However, his defining campaign arrived in 2013/14. Myler scored more points in a single season than any player in Saints history and was instrumental as Northampton completed a historic Premiership and Amlin Challenge Cup double.

Named Player of the Match in both the European and Premiership finals, Myler delivered when the stakes were highest. Few players have exerted greater influence during a single season in the Club’s history.

Although international recognition was limited to a single England cap against Argentina in 2013, he left the Test arena with a perfect kicking record, converting the only kick at goal he attempted.

Myler departed Northampton in 2018 after 330 appearances and 2,655 points. His induction into the Hall of Fame in 2025 recognised one of the most influential fly-halves and goal-kickers ever to wear Black, Green and Gold.

Hall of Fame profiles have been researched and compiled, with the Club’s grateful thanks, by the volunteers of Northampton Saints Foundation’s Heritage Department – whose work helps preserve and share the rich history of Northampton Saints.
