Henry Pollock named Under-20 Six Nations Player of the Championship

Henry Pollock has today added to his Under-20 Six Nations Championship winners medal, as the Northampton Saints back row was named the Player of the Championship.

The 19-year-old flanker  – who has made seven appearances in Black, Green and Gold to date – stormed into this year’s Under-20 Championship with a hat-trick against Italy in Round One and maintained his eye catching and dominant form all the way through to the final round of the Under-20 Six Nations, which culminated in Le Crunch.

England beat France in their final fixture of this year's Under-20 Six Nations, to secure the Championship title, and it was the young back rower who claimed his third Player of the Match medal, rounding off an imperious set of individual performances, and cementing his case to be named the Player of The Championship.

Born in Banbury, England, Pollock made his Saints senior debut in the Premiership Cup against Saracens in 2022. It was on his debut that Pollock, then 17 years’ old, wrote himself into the club’s history books, by becoming the youngest ever try scorer in the professional era, when he bagged a brace of tries. Pollock has since made his full Premiership debut, in none other than the East Midlands derby in 2023, the infamous Northampton Saints versus Leicester Tigers clash.

Commenting on winning the 2024 Men’s U20 Six Nations Player of The Championship, Henry Pollock said: “I am very honoured to win the award. I want to thank everyone that has worked around me to get me to where I am now.

“It was a great tournament to be involved in. We built really well through the five games, and it was credit to the whole squad. It was a very good campaign, and we are now looking ahead and excited for the World Championship this summer.”

Julie Paterson, Chief of Rugby at Six Nations Rugby, added:  “Each year the Under-20 Six Nations Championship highlights the incredible talent each union and federation are developing.

“Henry is certainly a star in the making, and fully deserves his award. He is also a great example of the rugby pathway that the Under-18 Festivals and then Under-20 Championship offers, and its ability to provide a platform for such talented young players to showcase their skills, but also gain vital international rugby experience.”
