Franklin’s Gardens to host innovative pop-up restaurant

Northampton Saints will bring private dining to Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday 8 August, with the Club launching a new pop-up restaurant experience alongside Burnt Lemon.

Live rugby might be off the menu for the time being, but diners can still enjoy a first-class experience at the restaurant with Franklin’s Gardens providing a stunning backdrop.

The concept will see 12 hospitality boxes within the Barwell Stand transformed into private dining booths for the evening, allowing guests to enjoy a meal with friends or colleagues in a totally ‘COVID-secure’ fashion.

The restaurant will be run by the award-winning James Peck, star of BBC 2 show The Chefs’ Brigade, and owner of Northamptonshire-based Burnt Lemon Chefs.

It will feature five-course and nine-course taster menus, with suggested wine pairings for each dish, as well as a range of exclusive cocktails produced by Brixworth-based Jelley’s Organic Vodka.

“We want to take your taste buds on an unforgettable journey as we bring fine dining to Franklin’s Gardens,” said Chef James.

“This pop-up restaurant will celebrate the rich heritage of Northampton Saints, blending incredible flavours with milestone moments from the Club’s proud history.”

“A dining experience like no other, our team of award-winning chefs will serve up a stunning menu showcasing the very best in local produce, while you and your guests enjoy the comforts of five-star hospitality in a safe and secure private box overlooking the pitch.”

Featuring dishes such as Aged Beef Onglet with Duck Egg and Bone Marrow Potato, the restaurant will serve up a range of food that promises to be some of the very best in Northamptonshire.

Burnt Lemon @ Franklin’s Gardens will allow the stadium to be open on non-matchdays, bringing in extra revenue for the Club with usual turnover significantly impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown.

“We’re very excited to open our doors to the public for the first time since the lockdown began, and to offer a unique dining experience,” said Ed Turnham, Head of Sales at Northampton Saints.

“Hosting great events, as well as rugby matches, is a huge part of what we do at Franklin’s Gardens. We hope we can welcome some new faces to our pop-up restaurant, as well as some familiar ones, as we all look to try to get back to normal together.”
